There are very few war-themed Hong Kong films, and fewer yet that deliver the action and drama like Eastern Condor. Produced in the early 90s, Eastern Condor stars a grand trio of veteran action stars - Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, and Yuen Wah.
Set in the Vietnam War period, a group of Chinese convicts are sent into Vietnam by the US government on a deadly mission in exchange for freedom and monetary reward. The group must locate an abandoned ammunitions dump before the violent Vietcong army, led by Yuen Wah, does. Deep in enemy territory, Sammo Hung and company encounter many dangerous, at times fatal, obstacles, but receive some help from a lethal trio of female guerrilla fighters, including Sammo Hung's real-life wife, Joyce Godenzi. Packed with fierce and fatalistic action, Eastern Condor hits hard and never relents, thrillingly combining gunplay and martial arts in a brutal war zone where everyone fights but no one wins.
